It was around 100 degrees and we had been walking around Ephesus for 3 hours. We had to walk 3 miles to get back to the hotel under the scorching sun and we were saving the water we had left by drinking sips at a time.
After a while we saw a fruit stand. Kudrej immediately got up from the mattress he was resting on and invited us to sit. With impressive skill he got a knife and cut up a huge watermelon and offered it to the two of us.
A little later Ufuk showed up, his son who helps him with the stand. Steve and them understood each other by talking soccer and between naming Messi, Ronaldo, Barcelona and other teams we had a great time.
They walked us out to the orchard where they had mandarins, figs, peaches and other fruit trees planted.
After saying goodbye we started walking again with our tummies filled with watermelon and a bag filled wıth peaches, figs and grapes for later.
During the rest of our stay in Selçuk we ran into them various times and they waved at us from a distance. We already had 2 friends in Selçuk!
